Designed for Active Seniors

LANEBROOK Communities are designed for active and independent adults, ages 55 and above, to feel just like home, set in surroundings that you can safely and freely explore. The LANEBROOK Design Team draws upon their expertise in older adult care, resort and hotel design, accessibility design, and architecture to develop neighborhoods with well-designed homes , strategically positioned furniture, and thoughtfully appointed common areas. The purpose is to combine aesthetics and accessibility with utility to create independent living communities that are human-centric, safe, friendly, and comfortable.

Space Planning and Home Design

All homes at LANEBROOK are designed for all ages, needing minimal or no renovations as your needs change. The physical layout is simple, open, and understandable, to maximize independence and movement. Ceilings are high, which makes your home feel much bigger than the actual floor area. Doors are wide, and elevation from the outside footpath to your home is the same. We use a swing panel door in the entrance and pocket doors in the bedrooms and toilets. Suggested furniture layout makes maneuvering easy and safe. Décor, furnishings, and finishes are homey and welcoming, with minimal use of patterns that may cause confusion.

We use a non-institutionalized design approach and space relationships that encourage your interaction with fellow Community Members and with nature. The kitchen is open, accessible, and faces the living and dining areas to enable you to interact with family members and for other Community Members to participate in food preparation. The living, dining, and bed rooms are all designed to enable natural light to come in through low window sills.

LANEBROOK homes have flexible design and are pre-planned to allow for your changing requirements and needs over time. The height of kitchen counters and shelves of cabinets can be adjusted depending on your height requirement. The stove, refrigerator, and cabinets are laid out for easy access of Community Members with disability. The toilet is designed to allow a second person and a portable lifting equipment to fit in the shower area, should this need arise in the future. The shower area is spacious for you to enjoy your baths. We also pre-identified locations for grab bars and railings throughout the house to support you as needed in the future.

Common Spaces

LANEBROOK facilities are open to all Community Members, family members, and visitors. The central hub of each neighborhood has a Community Hall that have spaces for gatherings, as well as rooms for the LANEBROOK Club office, small meetings, healthcare center, building service room, salon and barbershop, fitness studio, therapy room, and storage rooms. The central hall will be part of a landscape park with an adult swimming pool. We also placed amenities to encourage family visits, including play areas and a children’s pool. These engaging common spaces allow for contact between and among Community Members, families, LANEBROOK Team Members, and the bigger neighborhood.

Site Development

LANEBROOK Communities encourage walking. The roads are separated from the rest of the Community. The parking area and the amenities are centrally located; access to your home will be through footpaths to make independent walking safe from moving vehicles. To make the walk interesting, the whole area is landscaped, with pocket parks, sitting areas, and exercise stations dotting the Community. There are no humps and steps, and sturdy handrails are strategically installed for easy and safe movement.
