Potential Location of Lanebrook Community
Binan, Laguna
Another weekend favorite destination among city dwellers is the province of Laguna. Situated southeast, approximately 40 kilometers from the capital Manila, Laguna boasts of several interesting sights, perfect for a quick retreat, relaxation, or recreation. The province is part of the CALABARZON Region, located south of the province of Rizal, west of Quezon, north of Batangas, and east of Cavite.
Culture & Lifestyle
Laguna is famous as the birthplace of the Philippine national hero, Jose Rizal. Standing witness to the aspiration for freedom of its most popular son, Laguna was one of the provinces who staged a revolt against the Spanish rule in the 1890s.
Today, Laguna exhibits a thriving economy. Its main resources include coconuts, rice, citrus fruits, lanzones, and other products. The level of development across towns vary, with those closest to Manila becoming industrialized and the inner ones continue to engage in agriculture and small-scale industries. Tourists flock to visit its beautiful wonders, including Pagsanjan Falls, the hot springs in Calamba and Los Banos, the dormant volcanoes Mount Makiling and Mount Banahaw, Caliraya Lake, and Laguna Lake, the largest lake in the Philippines. Laguna Lake is the main fishing ground, providing source of livelihood among locals.
Among the many labels of the province include, the Detroit of the Philippines because of the presence of major vehicle manufacturers in the city of Santa Rosa; the Silicon Valley of the Philippines due to the myriad of electronic and semi-conductor companies operating in the province; and the Resort Capital of the Philippines as it is home to more than 700 hot spring resorts in Calamba and Los Banos – a surefire way to relax your tired muscles after a long day or a busy week.
Laguna is a notable contributor to the vibrancy of arts in the country. Paintings and sculptures from Paete, known as the Woodcarving Capital of the Philippines, have won national and international awards.

Getting Around
Laguna is about two hours south of Manila via the South Luzon Expressway. There are several buses from Manila that can take you to the province, including Jack Liner, HM Transport, Lucena Lines, Saint Rose, and Green Transit. There are also other buses that have different sign boards, such as Lemery (Batangas). You can also take these buses since they will pass by the town of Calamba. Just tell the conductor or the driver to drop you off Calamba proper. If you want to go to other towns, there are public utility jeepneys and tricycles in Calamba. You can also drive your own car, the convenient way to go to Laguna or explore its many interesting towns.
